Plastic water bottle pollution is worse than you think!!                               _______________________________________________

How bad is bad when it comes to plastic water bottle pollution?

Pretty bad.

Around the world, almost 1 million plastic bottles are purchased every minute. As the environmental impact of that tide of plastic becomes a growing political issue, major packaged goods sellers and retailers are under pressure to cut the flow of single use bottles that are clogging the world’s waterways.

For every six bottles people buy, only one is recycled. That leads to a big problem given the fact that water bottles are not biodegradable but rather are photodegradable. That means it takes at least upto 1000 years for every single bottle to decompose, leaking pollutants into our soil and water along the way.

It is quite disastrous to look upon the facts related to our beloved plastic water bottle. Lets take a look upon it

1. It takes 3 times the amount of water in a bottle of water to make it as it does to fill it.

2. The production of bottles water uses 17 million barrels of oil a year. That’s slightly more than it would take to fill one million cars a year with fuel.

3. Plastic water bottles are made from a petroleum product called polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which requires giant amounts of fossil fuels to make and transport.

4. Studies show that the toxins decomposing bottles of water leach into our environment cause a variety of health issues, including reproductive problems and cancer.

Here’s to what can save the world now

1. EDIBLE WATER BLOBS, the OOHO

Enter Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez, Pierre Paslier and Guillaume Couche, co-founders of London-based startup Skipping Rocks Lab. For the past few years, these innovators have been working on an interesting solution to the plastic water dilemma: water encased inside an edible container called “the Ooho”. It is completely biodegradable, edible water blob

The Ooho orb consists of water surrounded by a jelly-like membrane made of brown algae and calcium chloride. The squishy but strong gel like container decomposes after 4-6 weeks if not consumed.

What’s more great? The packaging is cheaper than the plastic, costing less than 2 cents to produce.

2. WHAT ABOUT THOSE STAINLESS STEEL WATER BOTTLES

The most easily available option in the market right now is the stainless steel water bottles and tumblers. Instead of going in for carrying plastic with you, one can carry steel bottles with more durability, leakage proof in hand. The pricing for its durability and life provides much better option than the plastic water bottles.

3. TAKE OUT THOSE HIDDEN COPPER BOTTLES

Copper water bottles not only are good alternative for plastic water bottles but also are very good as an healthy resort. Drinking water from copper vessels aids in a good digestion system and has been proven to boosts memory. Thus, it not only helps in building up a healthy lifestyle but also will help in cutting a slack to our plastic water bottle usage.

LETS TAKE A STEP FORWARD AND MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR EVERY SPECIES.
